Q: Have a 2000 Honda Accord - what type of snow chains should I get? Cable or Regular?
I can't seem to find the owner's manual. Is there a recommended type of snow chain to get for standard size tires on a 2000 Honda Accord?
Thanks.
Also, although it's the recommended thing to do, I would prefer not to purchase a set of snow tires. The chains are moreso for use in the event of an emergency if there's a sudden snowstorm or to drive through a pass that requires chains. Thx.
A: I use cables, specifically the diagonal ones called Z chains (at NAPA). They supposedly can be put on without lifting the tire or moving the car but I have never found that to be true.
Q: What kind of tires would you recommend for a 2000 Honda Accord Coupe?
I drive a 2000 Honda Accord Coupe, and right now I have some arizonian tires on the back.
My daily driving is to and from work, which is about 45 minutes each way, going 60mph, for 5 days a week. It's all smooth asphalt - no offroading.
What kind of tires do you guys recommend? I'm looking for something decent priced, but will last for a long time on the road.
Thanks.
A: The few responses you get here won't tell you much of anything. Why not visit http://www.tirerack.com/ and look up your vehicle and all the tires available and see what sort of ratings each tire received from folks who have actually used those tires?
Q: I have a 2000 Honda Accord. When it accelerates it makes a loud engine noise and it accelerates slowly-why?
I have a 2000 Honda Accord. When it accelerates it makes a loud engine noise and it accelerates slowly-why?
A: cuz its a POS
Q: How much does the small window (not the power window) in the back on a 2000 Honda accord cost to replace?
I locked myself out of my car and had to smash a window. I chose one of the small triangular windows in back since it would be easy to tape up. How much would it cost to get that fixed on a 2000 honda accord?
A: it would've been cheaper if you had AAA, or a friend with AAA that called for this. you wouldn't have had to smash anything. just use a slim jim

Q: Cruise Control malfunction on my 2000 Honda Accord?
I have a 2000 Honda Accord EX with a cruise control malfunction. The "Cruise Control" display is ON in the dashboard, but the control is not locking (mechanically it's not working).
I took the car to the dealership and they told it's something to do with a broken throttle box (nothing wrong with the throttle though). Cost $$500!!!
Can somebody help me figure out what it is and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.
A: a dealer doens't generally try to tell you things that need to be replaced when they don't.... because for the most part they are servicing a warranty, they don't have the same motivations a regular mechanic shop does...
so if they told you that's what you need to do to replace it, then that's what you need to do, and all you can do (likely... i'm sure there's a few instances where this won't apply, but i garuntee for the most part it will.... the mechanics in dealerships make a habbit of penny-pinching wherever they can.)
Q: Will a 2000 Honda accord coupe bumper fit on a 2000 Honda accord sedan?
will a 2000 honda accord coupe bumper fit on a 2000 honda accord sedan? And why not? From the outside it looks like its the same, just the coupe has a separate grill and fog lights.
A: yes, it will fit. But to make everything fit properly you'll need to get an accord coupe hood and also the little bumper support bar that the clips attach to on top. I know quite a few people who've swapped the 01-02 accord coupe front bumpers onto their sedans.
Q: 2000 honda accord keyless entry programming instructions?
I have a 2000 honda accord ex with a keyless remote. My remote is been collecting dust for sometime. How do I program my keyless remote to my car?
A: Try the procedure in the first source - it should work if the remote is compatible.
If that doesn't make the remote work you will need a compatible one. I have used remotesandkeys.com several times but their website seems to be down now so I can't provide a precise link. EDIT - their site is back up. Check out the second source. There are versions for different trim models, it seems.
Q: Cost of distributer replacement for 2000 Honda accord? Am I getting ripped off?
How much should I pay a mechanic to diagnose + replace a distributer in a 2000 Honda accord lx
Thanks everyone. They wanted $450 at an independent operation. They charged too much to diagnose the problem ($150). Im not going there again
A: A complete distributor should be $300 at most, $100 for installation max.
Q: Can you put an Acura Transmission in a 2000 Honda accord 4Cyl.?
I have a 2000 accord in absolute perfect condidtion. The only thing is that the transmission slips from 1st to 2nd. I love my car and i just want to get a new transmmission. I want an acura transmission but is this possible. And if it is which acura would i swap it from...i was thinking TL, TSX, or RL....But does the model year affect this?
I need to know what acura transmission i can put in my accord fast!
A: First of all, the transmissions in Acuras are Honda transmissions.
2ndly, unless you were doing a performance swap, and wanted to change from, say, a 5 speed to a 6 speed manual, that would make sense.
But if you need to replace your transmission, your best bet is just to get another one from a 2000 Accord that is in good condition.
Also, are you sure that you need a new transmission? If gears slipping is your only issue, you very well may be able to replace just certain parts. Or at least do a rebuild instead of a swap. This could save you a lot of money.
Q: I have a 2000 honda accord and suddenly the window opened all the way and wont close, hear the motor though?
My honda accord window won't close. I left it closed and went in the house, when I returned it was opened all the way. I put my keys in and tried to close it, but it won't. I can hear the motor and see the window in the base, but it wont close. Any thoughts?
A: Yeah, the regulator motor or the control lever is probably bad. Just because you hear the regulator doesn't mean that it is working. Just take the door panel off. Then remove the plastic liner. If you look towards the bottom sides, you should see a little motor. First thing to check is to make sure the frame that lifts the window is not damaged. Then check the regulator. Turn the ignition to the ON position the try and operate the window. You should be able to see and hear the motor not respond. Changing it is pretty much remove the old one, and install the replacement. The part for your vehicle ranges from $60-$90. But I changed one for a 81 Toyota Camry for around $80 last year and it was pretty cut and dry. First time ever changing one out too. Good luck if you decide to change it out yourself.
Q: How do I tune-up a 2000 Honda Accord?
My sister has a 2000 Honda Accord LX w/ 175k and it needs a tune-up.
Can someone please tell me:
1.Tools that I will need.
2. Parts that I need to change.
3. Can I get away with changing the BELTS myself.
4.Online do-it-yourself step-by-step manuals.
5. Any other pertinent information I should know.
6. Tips.
Thank you. Thank you!
A: Tune up is, plugs, wires, airfilter, pcv valve, fuel filter.Youll need a 6'' extension and a spark plug socket with a rachtet to change the plugs, a gapper to gap the plugs. The wires just pop off but pay close attention to which cylinder they came off and position on the distributor cap. The cap unscrews with an 8 mm socket, its easy if you pull the airbox out of the way. The bolts in the dist. cap tend to sieze and break off so lube them a day or two ahead of time with penetrate like pb baster. The fuel filter is on the firewall, youll need a 21mm socket and a 18 or 19mm wrench with a 14mm line wrench for the bottom fitting, lube it ahead of time. The belts can be tricky without a lift but defenitly do able. The ps and the alt belt loosen up with a 12mm wrench and a bolt on the bottom of the alt, 17mm maybe
Q: Why is my brake light on for my 2000 Honda Accord.?
The brake light on my 2000 Honda Accord comes on and off but my E brake is down. What can it be from?
A: Low brake fluid in the master cylinder.
When was the last time you had your brakes replaced?
NEVER ADD BRAKE FLUID!!
The brake master cylinder is designed to hold just the right amount of brake fluid for your brake system.
There are two things to note.
1) As the brake pads wear out, the calipers piston has to move farther out to press on the brake pads. As the piston moves farther out, the area behind the piston becomes filled with more fluid from the master cylinder, and the level of fluid in the master cylinder goes down.
When the fluid level in the master cylinder gets too low, a light should come on indicating that your brake fluid is low.
That does NOT mean you need to add brake fluid. It means your brake pads are VERY close to being worn out.
2) If you add brake fluid today, and have your brakes done tomorrow, when the mechanic compresses the caliper piston ALL the excess brake fluid is going to spill out of the master cylinder all over the engine compartment and make a huge mess. Not to mention ruining your car.
Just a note: Brake fluid does not evaporate. So, unless you have a leak, NEVER add brake fluid.
Have your brakes serviced.
Q: Has anyone ever had a problem with their 2000 Honda Accord rear bumper?
In recent months, I noticed that my back bumper is very slowly shifting downward. The space/crack between the bumper and actual back part of the car is getting wider. I'm wondering if I might have a problem with whatever holds the back bumper on. Has anyone ever noticed this on their Honda? Is this normal for an aging car? Any ideas about this problem? Thanks.
A: I'll be willing to bet you that your rear frame has some type of crack in it. Try looking at the rear of your frame (should be two metal frames that your car rests on), see if there is any cracks. Is it bolted on? rivited on? You might have to weld your frame back up or it could be the mounts are deteriorating. Hope that helps
Q: On my 2000 Honda Accord 6 cyl the D4 light in the clusters is blinking!!!?
I have a 2000 Honda Accord 6 cyl automatic and the D4 light is blinking in the clusters. That is the little light that tells you what gear you are in. the car was in a small accident that messed up the back and the front a little, and also the front drivers side tire was hit so it was bent inward at the top. I am fixing the car, but every time I turn on the car, the D4 light just blinks, and once when I tried to put it in D4 it made a grinding sound like it does in a 5 speed car when you miss a gear. But it only did this once, and now it seems to sound okay but the light is still blinking. Can someone help me with this?? Thank You!!
A: When there is something wrong with the transmission, the D4 light will keep blinking. Go to a auto service and have them get the code out. Check with the Honda dealer and see if they had recall on that transmission. The V6 transmission from 1998 to 2000 or 2001 always has problems.
Q: Why has my 2000 Honda Accord V6 suffered a sudden drop in fuel efficiency?
I usually get a solid 350-380 miles for every fill up. Recently, during the last two fill ups, I've only gotten barely 300 miles per fill up. My last major service was completed at 120k. I'm currently at 130k. What could be the issue? Is it the O2 sensor? My check engine light has not come on.
A: tire pressure ? repack your rear wheel bearings lately ? perhaps your CV joints are ready to go ?
